Welcome to Purpose Driven Success Podcast. I'm your host, Mo Salami. Today's recap isn't just a summary, it's an interpretation and a distillation of leadership lessons from Tanya and Chavez. Tanya and Chavez is a former Air Force jump master turned executive coach. Tanya's philosophy centers on courage, discomfort, and deliberate preparation, showing us how to lead ourselves and lead others in high stakes moments. Jumping out of airplanes to guiding executives at top companies. Tanya embodies what it means to transform fear into actionable leadership. So let's explore a few insights that can shift how you approach risk, resilience, and growth. The first insight, and this is one of my favorites from the episode, is standing in a door. Tanya teaches that fear never fully disappears. What changes is how you engage with fear. And Tanya coined the phrase stand in the door to describe leaning into discomfort, both literally and metaphorically. By acknowledging fear, exposing yourself to fear in controlled ways, and focusing on your responsibility to others. Leaders develop the capacity to act decisively. This applies to corporate teams, parenting or any high pressure scenario. It's about choosing presence over panic. So that was the first insight, standing in the door. Insight number two is micro moments that build courage. Tanya emphasizes that courage is trained, not innate. Small intentional acts of discomfort, whether it's skydiving, asking for help, or stepping up in low stakes environments, create the muscle memory to navigate bigger challenges. By collecting data on your discomfort, you progressively rewire your nervous system for calm, measured responses. Tanya's personal journey from a shy child to a fearless jump master demonstrates how incremental exposure creates lasting transformation. That was the second insight. That micro moments build courage. Insight number three is creating jump conditions. Leadership is about structuring the environment for both personal and team growth. Tanya's jump conditions framework reframes mistakes as mastery, encourages focus on the person in front of you, and emphasizes camaraderie and mentorship. High self-orientation is replaced with surface-oriented presence, cultivating trust and courage across the team. Leaders who master this principle inspire deliberate action rather than reactionary panic. And that was the third insight, creating jump conditions. Insight number four is letting go for growth. Ultimately, preparation meets opportunity only when we release rigid attachment to outcomes. Tanya's key lesson is that growth happens in the space between preparation and surrender. By cultivating a regulated nervous system, causing, anchoring, and reflecting in micro moments, leaders can navigate uncertainty with clarity and poise. This principle underlines every high-stakes decision from boardrooms to personal life transitions. And I'll leave you with some actionable takeaways. The first actionable takeaway is identify one fear or discomfort and quote unquote stand in the door for sixty seconds today. The second actionable takeaway is practice a micro moment of nervous system regulation. Breath, touch, or anchor. Third actionable takeaway is reframe a recent mistake as a data point, not a failure. Audit your circle. Who are your mentors, your coaches, or your peers that expand your courage? Start small and build the courage muscle daily. Tanya's journey teaches us that leadership is cultivated through courage and intentional presence. By embracing discomfort, creating supported conditions, and letting go of rigid outcomes. You unlock your full potential and you inspire your team to do the same. I definitely recommend go check out the episode with Tanya and Chavez. Really, really outstanding episode shares and insights.
